About Creating a Fan Base
“My lust for a camera, despite my inability to afford one, is fueled partly by its unattainable nature. You see, its just not available to anyone yet. Red has done a brilliant job of keeping the Red followers apprised of product development. With every new development discovery and feature improvement and setback, it’s fan base is notified but always with the caveat “Everything in life changes. . .including our camera specs and delivery dates.
While I don’t believe Red Cameras manipulate the fan base intentionally, the way products are announced and released gives that appearance. If you’ve got absolutely nothing better to this holiday weekend, take look at the Reduser Net Forums. My lust for a camera, despite my inability to afford one, is fueled partly by its unattainable nature. Sounds like a guy thing right? You see, its just not available to anyone yet. Red has done a brilliant job of keeping the Red followers apprised of product development. With every new development discovery and feature improvement and setback, it’s fan base is notified but always with the caveat “Everything in life changes. . .including our camera specs and delivery dates.” Once again, the openness and honesty from the company (see our Case Study—RMW about Rocky Mountain Westy) makes the wait a little more tolerable and helps solidify the community just a little more every day.
