About Creating a Fan Base

“My lust for a camera, despite my inability to afford one, is fueled partly by its unattainable nature.  You see, its just not available to anyone yet. Red has done a brilliant job of keeping the Red followers apprised of product development. With every new development discovery and feature improvement and setback, it’s fan base is notified but always with the caveat “Everything in life changes. . .including our camera specs and delivery dates.

Ad Awareness

Ever wonder how those ads seem to know all about you?  Well it turns out online ads rely on a lot of information about you and your spending habits.  Targeted ads are nothing new.  Googles’ AdWords for instance targets users through keywords found in search terms.  Yahoo does basically the same thing.  The difference is, the ads you setup with your favorite pay-per-click vendor can’t make use of information gleaned from a viewer’s personal purchase history.

Page Weight Vanity

As long as I’ve been developing websites, I’ve alway been concerned with page weight and performance. During the development of this site, I’ve been using the Developer tools in Safari and the Web Developer Toolkit in Firefox to debug code and display issues. Safari has a nice graphical resource report which will tell you download times and file size. Initially, I was concerned that my home page was well over 100k, in fact over 200k.  Then I started looking around to what other sites I regularly visit weigh. And then it hit me:  page weight doesn’t matter.
